Things I Have Learned

1. Battles are the most incredible live experience in the world.

2. Saul Williams is better than the FA Cup Final.

3. Dinosaur Jr. should be the only band allowed to have guitar solos over thirty seconds long.

4. Animal Collective are utterly bonkers but utterly good.

5. It is possible to wear a red (pink!) hat for an entire weekend, as long as you accept the fact that nobody will remember your name. Unless your name actually is "Red Hat Man".

6. Nothing grabs your attention like an 6'4" Scotsman holding a can of strongbow in one hand and a flying-V ukelele in the other, standing on the rocks of a beach singing "Prayer to God".

7. Are you starting to feel the strain on the Sunday morning? Why not treat yourself to the Jens Lekman Experience? Guaranteed to flood your aching limbs and pounding head with so much joy, sweetness, and pure goodheartedness, that you'll soon be rushing back into the festival screaming: "bom-ba-bom-ba Bom-ba-Bom-ba Bom-ba-Bom-BA-BOM! HEY!" Best taken at 2.30 pm.

8. The National are the poets laureate of the broken hearted. Anyone who says otherwise is a replicant.

9. Ghostface Killah proves that misogyny can be funny, if done correctly.

10. You will still feel it - in your face, in your legs, in your eyes, in your bumptiously beating heart - for days and days afterwards. And this is a Very Good Thing.
